MasterCard destekli Olivier Ödülleri 3 Nisan 2016’da Covent Garden’ın ikonik Royal Opera Evi’nde muhteşem bir sunumla gerçekleştirildi.

Judi Dench sekizinci Olivier Ödülü’nü kazandı. İngiliz tiyatro tarihine damgasını vurarak bu ödülü alan sanatçı, adını tiyatro dünyasına altın harflerle yazdırdı

Pazar akşamı İngiltere’nin en prestijli ödüllerine sahne olurken Kış Masalı’ndaki “Paulina” rolüyle Dame Judi en iyi yardımcı kadın oyuncu seçildi. Bu sanatçının aldığı 8. olivier ödülü oldu ve deneyimli sanatçı ödüller tarihde bir rekora imza atmış oldu.

  
81 yaşındaki yıldız 1998 yılında Shakespeare in Love filmiyle 7. Oscar adaylığını almış ve Akademi Ödülü kazanmıştı. Şimdi ise Olivier Ödülleri’nde adaylık ve ödül rekoruna bir yenisini eklemiş oldu.

Gecenin bir diğer ayrıntısı ise Nicole Kidman’ ın ‘Photograph 51′ oyunundaki performansı ile elde ettiği adaylığın ödüle dönüşüp dönüşmeyeceği idi. Kidman ödülünü, National Theatre’ ın genç sanatçısı Denise Gough’a kaptırdı.
